Aesthetically, the game is a homage to the pre-windows era with its retro in-game graphics, brought into the 21st century with the inclusion of a very cool intro movie. The whole set-up is very easy on the eye, the menus and info windows are all as straightforward and un-complicated as they should be.

I was extremely impressed to find a complicated 4X game like this available for Windows Mobile. I have been a fan of the Civilization series since its inception, and I was thrilled to play Revival. I found a lot to like in this game, and loved the fact that it really stayed true to the 4X style of gameplay.

From a gameplay perspective, I think Revival is the best thing you'll find on the PocketPC for a turn based strategy game. Once you know how to go about your business the game is fairly easy to navigate, and there's a lot to do.

Revival is a pretty good game that can become addictive if you generally like turn-based military strategy adventures. Besides the game's resemblance with Civilization, I also found similarities with the Age of Empires series as well as with Heroes of Might and Magic.

The demo version of Revival gives the player access to the entire tutorial. Besides introducing you to the basic gameplay, the Tutorial is an excellent opportunity to explore the simplicity of the interface, and the complexity of the economy. It doesn't really give you much insight into the AI or combat, however. And replay value is nil, since the Tutorial follows a pretty linear path designed exclusively for introducing the player to the game.

Revival comes with a great little tutorial that helps explain why and how to do things in the game. It’s really rather complex, and I highly suggest going through the tutorial, especially if you’ve not played Civilization on your PC before. Revival on S60v3 offers the ability to save your game at any point, which is a must for this type of turn-based strategy game.
